Lifting & transport combined.
With long-reach crane capability and a range of lifting accessories, our HIAB services are ideal for machinery moves, construction materials, steelwork, modular units and equipment installations, offering the versatility to handle a wide variety of loads and site conditions.
By combining transport and lifting within a single vehicle and crew, this integrated capability removes the need to coordinate multiple contractors for delivery and installation. The result is simplified site logistics, reduced handling, and a faster, more efficient operation from arrival on site through to the load being placed exactly where it’s needed.
One provider, full capability.
As part of the wider Buzzard Group, our HIAB services also draw on our specialist haulage fleet and contract lifting expertise, giving clients access to a complete transport and lifting solution under one roof. Where a project calls for abnormal loads, specialist trailers or a fully managed lift alongside delivery, our teams work together seamlessly rather than as separate suppliers, meaning a single point of contact, one coordinated programme, and consistent standards of safety and compliance across the whole operation.
This full-capability approach means clients aren’t limited by the constraints of a single vehicle or service line. Whatever the complexity of the load or the site, Buzzard Group has the combined resources to plan, transport, lift and install it as one integrated operation.
Whats included?
A HIAB isn’t just a lorry with a crane on the back, and treating it that way is how loads end up dumped at the kerb instead of exactly where they’re needed.
Every HIAB hire includes a fully qualified, ALLMI-trained operator, the vehicle and all lifting accessories required for the job. You get one booking, one crew and your load placed precisely where you need it, not just as near as the truck can get.
For abnormal or restricted route movements, we coordinate routes enabling works such as the temporary removal and reinstatement of street furniture and other infrastructure to ensure equipment can be transported safely and efficiently.
How HIAB hire works.
1. Get a Quote
Tell us what needs moving, its weight and size, the site address and when you need it. We’ll check availability and send you a quote.
2. Book your HIAB
Once you’re happy with the quote, confirm the date and we’ll book in the HIAB and operator.
3. On the Day
Our ALLMI-trained operator arrives with the HIAB at the agreed time, sets up and lifts your materials onto the HIAB and transports the load to wherever necessary. When the job’s done, your recipient contact signs the operator’s proof of delivery form.
Our sectors:
What we move.
Buzzard’s Hiab hire service offers a flexible, self-loading solution for moving a wide range of items, no matter how awkward the access or location. Using hydraulic loading, our skilled operators can lift, transport and position loads with precision and care, reducing the need for manual handling and additional equipment on site. From industrial machinery to site accommodation, containers and even boats, our Hiab hire service is trusted across a variety of sectors to deliver safe, efficient and controlled moves.
Machinery
Our Hiab hire service is ideal for transporting industrial machinery, including compressors, generators and plant equipment. With hydraulic loading, deliveries can be placed precisely where needed, even on restricted or uneven sites.
Containers
Buzzard’s Hiab hire service is well suited to moving storage and shipping containers, site cabins and welfare units. Hydraulic loading allows precise, controlled placement on site, even in tight or restricted spaces, minimising manual handling and keeping your project on schedule.
Site Accommodation
Our Hiab hire service is ideal for positioning site accommodation, including welfare units, portable cabins and offices. Hydraulic loading enables precise, controlled placement, even on restricted or uneven ground, reducing manual handling and helping keep your site set-up safe and on schedule.
Sitework & installation
Buzzard’s HIAB service delivers self-loading transport for sitework and installation projects across the UK. Our vehicle-mounted cranes lift, carry and place loads in one visit, so there’s no separate vehicle to book and your work stays firmly on schedule.
Materials
Our Hiab hire service handles a wide range of building materials, from steel beams and timber to pallets of bricks, blocks and cladding. The hydraulic crane lets us lift loads straight into position, so there’s less double handling and less time lost on site.
Hot Tubs, Boats, Caravans
Buzzard’s Hiab hire service is well equipped for transporting other miscellaneous items such as hot tubs, mobile homes, caravans and boats. Hydraulic loading ensures careful, controlled handling and precise placement, even in restricted or awkward locations, keeping your load safe throughout the move.
What our clients say.
VERTEX and the INDUSTRO Engineering Group had a specific need for steel loads to be safely transported to site, and then lifted in to place in a logistically challenging environment. We needed to engage with a team with the capability and experience to deliver both aspects seamlessly, who were also lean enough to offer the flexibility that a project of this nature requires. Buzzard offered us an integrated specialist haulage and lifting solution, offering logistical ease and bringing cost saving solutions as we could deal with them as the sole provider of these services. The project was delivered flawlessly.

Buzzard have handled numerous haulage jobs for us without fail. Every load has arrived exactly when promised, and if we’ve ever needed something arranged at short notice, they’ve responded quickly and sorted it. Health and safety is clearly built into how they operate, not just talked about, which matters a lot to us. They’re straightforward and easy to deal with throughout, and that reliability is exactly why we keep coming back to Buzzard.

FAQ's.
What can a HIAB be used for on my site?
A HIAB combines a lorry-mounted crane with the vehicle itself, so it’s ideal for moving materials on and off site and positioning them exactly where they’re needed – not just as near as the truck can get, which makes it especially useful on sites that are still being built or have restricted access.
Is the operator qualified to carry out lifts, not just drive the vehicle?
Yes. Every HIAB we supply comes with an ALLMI-trained operator, so you get someone qualified to load, unload and position materials safely, not just transport them.
How do you make sure the right HIAB is booked for my job?
Once you’ve told us the load, site and access details, we check the ground conditions and confirm the load falls within safe working limits before booking – so you get the right size HIAB and operator for the job, not just whichever one is nearest and available.
Need it placed by professionals, not just dropped off?
Send us the load, the site and the window. We’ll come back with the right HIAB and a price.
