Contract lifting.

Buzzards contract lifting service means we take legal responsibility for the whole operation; the Appointed Person, lift plan, RAMS, crane, crew and insurance. You tell us what needs lifting and where, we do the rest.

Why contract lifting?

A contract lift is a lifting operation the crane company takes on as the contractor, rather than supplying the crane and operator alone.

We provide the Appointed Person, lift plan, RAMS, crew, equipment and insurance, and we take responsibility for the lifting operation. If the plan needs to change, that’s our Appointed Person’s call, not something your team has to resolve.

Requirements such as LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121; the framework around lifting operations is not light reading, and satisfying it becomes our job rather than yours. You tell us what the load weighs and what the site is like, we plan it, we run it, we own the outcome.

Whats included?

Crane hire and contract lifting use the same cranes and the same operators. The difference is who plans and runs the lift.

Crane hire suits you if you’ve got your own Appointed Person and lifting team. We supply the crane and operator, and you stay in charge of the lift.

With contract lifting, you hand the whole lift over to us. We visit the site, choose the crane, write the method statement and risk assessment, and supply the Appointed Person and slinger/signallers. Insurance is included too.

Not sure which you need? Tell us what your team and what you’re lifting and we’ll point you to the right one.

How a contract lift works.

1. ENQUIRY: Tell us what needs lifting and where. Weights, dimensions, site access and dates are enough to get started.

2. SURVEY & LIFT PLAN: We survey the site, assess access and ground conditions and select the right crane and configuration. Your Appointed Person is named and takes charge of planning the lift.

3. DOCUMENTATION & APPROVAL: You receive the lift plan, method statement and risk assessments to review before anything moves, along with our insurance, crew certification and any site-specific permits.

4. THE LIFT: Our supervisor briefs the crew, checks the equipment and runs the operation. If a decision is needed on site, our AP makes it.

5. SET DOWN & SIGN-OFF: Load set down, site cleared, documentation handed over for your records

What our clients say.

VERTEX and the INDUSTRO Engineering Group had a specific need for steel loads to be safely transported to site, and then lifted in to place in a logistically challenging environment. We needed to engage with a team with the capability and experience to deliver both aspects seamlessly, who were also lean enough to offer the flexibility that a project of this nature requires. Buzzard offered us an integrated specialist haulage and lifting solution, offering logistical ease and bringing cost saving solutions as we could deal with them as the sole provider of these services. The project was delivered flawlessly.

The INDUSTRO Engineering Group has worked closely with Buzzard Lifting across a wide range of complex lifting operations, and they have become a trusted partner for all our lifting requirements. Our projects regularly involve challenging environments, including top-tier COMAH sites, live operational plants and marine/jetty facilities, where safety, planning and professionalism are absolutely critical and non-negotiable. Buzzard Lifting consistently demonstrate a high level of technical competence and professionalism, from initial planning through to safe execution on site. Their team works seamlessly alongside our own project teams and clients, always maintaining the high standards of safety and conduct we and our clients expect. We have complete confidence in their ability to support INDUSTRO and its wider group both on routine and complex lifting operations and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Buzzard have handled numerous haulage jobs for us without fail. Every load has arrived exactly when promised, and if we’ve ever needed something arranged at short notice, they’ve responded quickly and sorted it. Health and safety is clearly built into how they operate, not just talked about, which matters a lot to us. They’re straightforward and easy to deal with throughout, and that reliability is exactly why we keep coming back to Buzzard.

FAQ's.

With contract lifting, Buzzard takes full responsibility for the lift – providing the lift plan and Appointed Person cover from planning through to execution, not just the crane and operator. It’s the right choice when a lift is complex or high-value enough that you want that planning and accountability built in as standard, rather than arranged separately.

Our Appointed Person plans the method before anything moves – assessing the load, the site and access, and setting out exactly how the lift will be carried out safely and in line with LOLER 1998, so everyone on site is working from the same agreed plan rather than making decisions on the day.

It’s built for lifts where there’s no room for error or delay – steel erection, bridge lifts and other complex or high-value work on programmes with no slack, where having Buzzard plan, supervise and take responsibility for the lift as one job matters more than on a straightforward hire.
